As a part of the Go Green program, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMV), in collaboration with the Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV) has organized training courses in environmental protection for representatives from national parks and nature preservations nationwide.
This program was implemented with 2 big objectives:
- Training and establishing officers network
- Support the national parks and nature preservations the work of raising awareness of local people on environmental protection and nature conservation.
Within three years (2008-2011), twice a year, TMV and ENV in collaboration with the Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV) will organize training courses at the Environmental Education Center in Tam Dao National Park. Through the training program, TMV and ENV will establish an officer network and local people in the national parks and nature preservations to high effectiveness.
In the courses, members will be trained to build skills and implement environmental education activities, to have more opportunities to learn useful experiences from ENV’s professors as well as practical experiences from an environmental education field for students and inhabitants which was implemented at hamlets in buffer zone of Tam Dao National Park such as: practice to propagandize enviromental issue with inhabitants; puzzle games about feature and habit of animals,… Finishing the training course, members are awarded certificates. And after that, they will return to national parks or nature reserves where they work to apply and implement the fully their environmental education programs which are made by themselves in the course.
Especially, after each training course, to develop practical proposals of members in the environmental protection, TMV will support the finance for the most excellent proposals to implement in the local.
To date, This Program has implemented 4 training course for 42 representatives from 22 National Parks and Natural Reserve as well as support finance to environmental education activities of 13 National Parks and Natural Reserve.
The program result
In the first year of implementation, after 2 intensive training course for 22 representatives from 11 National Parks and Natural Reserve, 7 National Parks and National Reserves (including: Cat Ba, Ba Vi, Chu Yang Sin, Phong Nha - Ke Bang, Bidoup-Ba mountain, Bu Gia Map and Pu Huong) received financial support of 156 million VND to implement environmental education activities from this program. After 1 years of implementation, officers from 7 National Parks and National Reserves have implemented 166 environment club meetings in natural, 61 meetings for inhabitants with the participation of above 3,000 local people; and 264 radio broadcasting programs on local public.
In 2009, TMV and ENV continued to support the National Parks and Natural Reserve including Lo Go Xa Mat, Pu Mat, Chu Mom Ray, Ba Vi, Muong Nhe and Can Gio with the total amount of 160 million VND. The environmental education activities are expected to aim at 2 main objects: students and local people. The specific activities are including: extracurricular activities program for students, communication programs for local people, broadcast programs on local radio and other environmental education documents.
Publication of GreenForest magazine
In addition to training courses at TamDaoNational Park, TMV is cooperating with ENV on the publication of GreenForest - biannual student magazine and on the provision of additional environmental education and support for onsite training and technical transfer for environmental education programs in National Parks/National Reserves.
