Hanoi, 25/04/2010 – Today, Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) in collaboration with Vietnam Environment Protection Administration (VEPA) and Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) organize “Green Idea Festival”. This is the Final Round of “Green Idea Contest 2009” which is most expected by the young environment lovers in Vietnam. The contest is an activity of Go Green program overall and free open in whole day at the Horison Hotel.
“Green Idea Contest” is an initiative in order to attract public concern, especially the young people for Vietnam environment protection career. The contest gives the youth opportunitty especially to orient the youth to Vietnam’s environment protection. The contest is an opportunity and playground for the young people to show their knowledge, ability, creativity on environment, in order to bring out new ideas contributing to protect, improve and enhance environment quality.
Started up from 28 September 2009, “Green Idea Contest” has really become a knowledgeable, useful, healthy, and interesting playground that receive great support and participation from the young people from all over the country. Up to the deadline of submitting ideas, the orgarnizing board of “Green Idea Contest” have received 800 exams of 1600 individuals and group candidates from all provinces in the whole country that most of them are students and pupils. After the careful check and consideration, there are 15 projects selected to the final round called “Green Idea Festival”. All of them was highly appreciated of thinking ability, researching, creativity and reliability as well as represent emotions and passion of the youth to the environment protection toward the sustainable development of Vietnam.
Among 15 selected projects, there are 11 ideas of technology solutions, 4 ideas of communication to improve knowledge. Among that there are 9 projects towards solutions of environment issues in rural area – a vulnerable one. 10 projects from the North and 5 projects belong to Southern candidates.
Each excellent project which appeared in “Green Idea Festival” was sponsored VND 2 million to decorate a booth of 4m2 to present of their proposal, visual aids and demonstrate their products.
On the festival day, the Board of Examiners included of Top of professors is divided into 3 groups to visit booths, listen to candidate presentations, interview and discuss with group of authors and judge to score on the scale of 100 points: creativity (30% of the total grades), feasibility (50%) and environment safety (20%). Each group of authors has 5 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes to interview with the Board (in total 10 minutes). The ones with highest grades will be announced after the last decision of the Board of Examiners. Finally, the best 3 ideas that are the first, second and third prizes will be supported by TMV with the average amount of 250 million VND for each project to realize those ideas in order to improve Vietnam’s environmental quality.
Speaking at the festival day, Mr. Akito Tachibana - the President of TMV said that: “15 selected projects to the final round and other ones which were not selected are respectful cause of their enthusiasm of young people for the environment protection of Vietnam. We would like to thank your meaningful and practical contributions. We do hope that with the success of the contest today and the support to realize your ideas will contribute to improve partly the awareness on environment protection of young people in particular and the public in general.
