From May 28th to June 6th 2010, Toyota Motor Vietnam, in coordination with Education for Nature- Vietnam (ENV), organized a 10- day training course on communications educating and raising awareness on environment protection for 10 delegates from 5 National Parks and Nature Reservation Areas in U Minh Thuong National Park, Cong Su hamlet, An Minh Bac commune, U Minh Thuong district, Kien Giang province.
During the course, trainees are guided by ENV trainers about environment communications, environment solutions and building environment protection strategies which are most suitable for each local condition in their areas. At the same time, they could practice communicating to raise awareness of environment protection among U Minh Thuong community.
After the training course, all trainees submitted their own proposals regarding to raising awareness on environment protection and improving their local environment. Baseson criteria which are: creativeness, practicality, objectives towarded, and level of biodiversity conservation, 7 excellent proposals will be financially supported by TMV to be implemented.
Mr Nguyen Tan Truyen - officer from U Minh Ha National Park sharing: `In the past, in our areas, environment education activities haven`t been paid enough attention yet, I conducted these activities without high involvement because I did not have enough knowledge on environment communication skills. However, after the training course, I understand that environment communications is really important and I will have chance to conduct these activities more professionally and effectively. I hope that this training course will last longer so that I can practice more and learn more from other people`.
Until now, TMV and ENV have conducted 5 training courses for more than 50 officers from 28 National Parks and Natural Conservation and funding 13 small projects proposed by officers from National Parks and Nature Reservation Areas. The program has received positive feedback and support from trainees as well as all of National Parks/ Nature Reservation Areas nationwide. |
