The year 2009 is forecasted to be a difficult year in the auto market in general and Vietnam market in particular. However, overpass many challenges, Toyota Motor Vietnam is honour to announce our achivements in 2009.
New record sales
Continues improvement the value of Toyota product, with precept “Customer first, high product quality and perfect customers service”, TMV always keeps to be a leader of auto industry in Vietnam. In 2009, economic situation was difficult due to financial crisis over the World but TVM still sold well with 30,109 units, took 25,2% market share, 23% higher than 2008, this was because customers trust Toyota brand. Especially, Innova has been in the market 4 years and keep the best sales 8,475 units, contribute to the total sales to 45,700 units. Corolla Altis is not less, 6,468 units/year 171% higher than last year. Next, Vios was sold 5,141 units increasing 65%. Besides that, even just launched in Feb 2009 Foturner was sold 5,878 units.
Leading in customer service
In 2009, Toyota service stations received more than 515,000 turns of units, increased 18% comparing with 2008. Moreover, TMV also open express maintenance service, Express body and paint service in the North and 4h scratch in order to save time and best service for customer. In order to serve customer better, TMV also expanses a store in the South and 4 Toyota dealers in many provinces including Toyota Phu My Hung HCM, Toyota Can Tho, Toyoyta HaDong and Toyota AnSuong HCM and now total Toyota dealers is 23.
Together with quality improvement TMV also focus on after sales service. Customer service campaign in 2009, many closed TMV customers participate a tour to Dalat and Toyota Concert Night.
To maintain export
Prepare for regional and world’s economic, TMV’s Export Centre first came into Vietnam from July 1, 2004. Not only focus on production for domestic demand, with the opening of export center, TMV has expanded operations into the field of export auto parts to countries in the global network with the main export products are: antenna, air conditioning exhaust valves, gas pedal foot. Currently, these products are exported to countries in the IMV Toyota gloabal project. Besides using the IMV products worldwide, the export products of TMV is also used for Yaris, Vios, Corolla and Hiace. There are 13 areas of 10 countries participate in global IMV project are: Thailand (four areas), Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Argentina, South Africa, Venezuela, Taiwan, Pakistan. Annual average export turnover of TMV auto parts reached $ 20 million per year. Despite many difficulties due to the global financial crisis, export turnover of TMV auto parts in 2009 is approximately $20 million, bringing the total export value to over $ 110 million. Planned, export turnover of TMV will continue to increase in coming years.
Continuously improve the localization and foreign investment
Since establishment, TMV was always constantly increase localization rate. With the initial investment of over 49 million, we invested in building production lines and assembling with four main stages in producing process to finish a car, they are Pressing, Welding, Painting and Assembling. In addition, TMV also manufacturing, producing parts at plant such as oil pipes, exhaust pipes, car carpets, sun barrier, tire body parts in factory. In particular, with the ongoing effort, TMV has officially established Frame production line first in Vietnam since August 2008 aims to increase localization rate as well as improving competitiveness for Innova model. Instead of importing complete frame as before, now TMV is only imported a small removable details (including roar along, the bar bracket) of the Innova frame, then proceed into production complete frame in the line of modern and automatic welding and ED painting. With this new shop, TMV has improved the localization rate of the Innova from 33% to 37% (according to the method for calculating the value of ASEAN) and create more jobs for workers.
To promote localization, after much effort, so far, TMV has established a system of 11 suppliers involved in production activities include: Harada VN, VN Denso, Toyota Boshoku Hanoi (formerly Takanichi), Export Mechanical Tools Company, Yazaki VN, Sumi-Hanel, Tan Duc company, Vietnam Co. GS company, Nagata VN company, Inoac Vietnam company and Summit Auto Seats Industry Hanoi company. In addition, TMV has been associated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Planning and Investment organized a seminar to call foreign investment in Vietnam and was successful in inviting suppliers of Toyota auto parts to invest in Vietnam, contribute to the development of supporting industries of Vietnam as Denso, Toyota Boshoku Hanoi, Toyota Boshoku Hai Phong and Toyota Gosei Haiphong.
Thanks to the operation of the Press shop and Frame shop as well as promote the activities of the network 11 suppilers, TMV is proud to be the leading automobile manufacturer of localization rate reaches from 19% to 37% depending each car model (the method for calculating the value of ASEAN).
Social contribution in Vietnam
“To be a good coporate citizen” is one of our ultimate goals since the first days of TMV’s foundation. TMV has actively involved in local society in such fields as: education, traffic safety, culture, environmental protection with many annual activities like Toyota Scholarship for students of technical – environmental major (In addition, since 2009, this scholarship has expanded to musical major), Traffic Safety Education Program (TSEP), Toyota Technical Education Program (TTEP), Robocon, Toyota Concert tour (VNSO), Toyota Classics,… Up to now, TMV has contributed more than USD 1,2 billion to the State’s budget and dedicated more than USD 13 million to the society.
Besides environmental protection activities at our factory, dealers and suppliers, since June 2008, TMV in colloboration with Vietnam Environment Protection Administration (VEPA) and Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has implemented Go Green – Hanh Trinh Xanh Program. The Go Green Program was initiated from an idea of creating a hub to promote closely and systematically cooperation between environmental protection activities of TMV with other organizations, and dedicated environment volunteer groups in Vietnam. With the cooperation of the Vietnam National Union of Students,agencies affiliated to VEPA and MOET, NGOs, and the community – together with awareness raising and education from mass media, in over one year, Go Green was implemented a series of practical and useful activities to raise positively the awareness of environmental protection to the community, especially young people. By the establishment of Go Green Club with a lot of activities such as Go Green – Natural preservation, Go Green Fashion show, Eco-bag, TV series (broadcasting on VTV1 in Tuesday and Thusday), Eco-school, Biogas project, Green Office, Biggest picture event, Green idea contest…, Go Green Program has really made great resonance in the society and received the appreciation from the community and the active participation of young people.
